Craig Jessop
Craig Jessop, Guest Conductor, MSVMA All-State Honors Choir
Dr. Craig Jessop is Professor of Music and Head of the Department of Music at Utah State University in Logan, Utah, and Music Director of the American Festival Chorus and Orchestra. Dr. Jessop was previously music director of the world famous Mormon Tabernacle Choir.

James Olcott
James Olcott, Guest Conductor, MSBOA Honors Jazz Ensemble
James Olcott is a native of Berkeley, California, and a Professor of Trumpet at Miami University in Ohio. Prior to his appointment to Miami in 1978, he taught at the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire and at Fort Hays State University (Kansas).

Steven Davis
Steven D. Davis, Guest Conductor, MSBOA Honors Band
Steven D. Davis is Director of Bands and Wind Ensembles, Associate Professor of Conducting, Conservatory Faculty and Large Ensembles Chair, and Conductor of the Conservatory Wind Symphony at the Conservatory of Music and Dance at the University of Missouri, Kansas City.

Bruce Uchimura
Bruce J. Uchimura, Guest Conductor, MSBOA Honors Orchestra
Bruce J. Uchimura is Professor of Music at Western Michigan University, where he conducts the University Symphony Orchestra, teaches cello, and coaches chamber ensembles. Mr. Uchimura is also the American String Teachers Association (Michigan Unit) Educator of the Year.

Andrew Koehler
The Kalamazoo Junior Symphony Orchestra, Conductor Andrew Koehler
One of the oldest and finest youth symphony orchestras in the United States, the Kalamazoo Junior Symphony Orchestra (KJSO) provides an orchestral experience of the highest quality for talented young musicians. Andrew Koehler is an Assistant Professor at Kalamazoo College.

David Gillingham
David R. Gillingham, Instructor, Music Composition
Dr. Gillingham has an international reputation for the works he has written for band and percussion. His commissioning schedule dates well into the first decade of the 21st century.

Anne-Marie Oomen
Anne-Marie Oomen, Instructor, Creative Writing
Anne-Marie Oomen is author of An American Map, Pulling Down the Barn and House of Fields (both Michigan Notable Books from Wayne State University Press); as well as a collection of poetry, Uncoded Woman (Milkweed Editions). She serves as instructor of creative writing at Interlochen Arts Academy.

Jane Baas
Jane Baas, Instructor, Dance
Jane Baas teaches kinesiology, modern dance, dance history and choreography at Western Michigan University. She serves on the Editorial Board of the Journal for Dance Medicine and Science, and chairs the Media Committee for the International Association for Dance Medicine and Science (IADMS).

Shawn Bible
Shawn T. Bible, Instructor, Dance
Shawn T. Bible teaches at Grand Valley State University. His research into integration of Modern Dance and film/video technology resulted in his video Dominique, which won a Rackham Scors Film Festival Award in 2005.

Giuseppe Canale, Instructor, Dance
Giuseppe Canale was born in Palermo, Italy. He began his dance training at age 11 and was a student of the National Academy of Dance in Rome. Giuseppe has been a faculty member for the ABT Summer Program in Detroit, and was promoted to their NYC Faculty for Summer 2009.

Scott Heinrich, Instructor, Dance
Scott Heinrich has worked professionally for Ballet Michigan, the Netherlands Opera, the Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company of Israel, the Eisenhower Dance Ensemble, and as a soloist for Teatro Massimo in Palermo, Italy. Scott is the co-founder of The Northeast Academy of Dance and is currently dancing with Dafmark Dance Theater in Erie, Pennsylvania.

Alisyn Hurd
Alisyn Hurd, Instructor, Dance
Alisyn Elaine Glasco Hurd a.k.a. Shortee Roe has been dancing since the age of 4. She is currently teaching the Dance Body Company at Community High School in Ann Arbor, MI. Alisyn along with her husband, Jared, is the founder and director of Vertical Ambition Dance Company.

Jared Hurd
Jared Hurd, Instructor, Dance
Jared Scott Hurd a.k.a. J-aura started dancing at the age of 16 in various styles of Hip-Hop and B-boying (breakdancing). With his wife Alisyn he has formed Vertical Ambition Dance Company, a hybrid company focusing on all hip-hop styles as well as contemporary.

Lisa LaMarre
Lisa LaMarre, Instructor, Dance
Lisa is currently choreographing and dancing with Detroit Dance Collective where she also serves as the company's Education Director. Lisa began using dance as a form of therapy and enjoyment for emotionally impaired, autistic, physically impaired and otherwise impaired youth and teen through VSA arts of Michigan.

Robin Wilson, Instructor, Dance
Robin Wilson is an Associate Professor at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor. She is a founding member of the Urban Bush Women. She has performed in NY for over a decade with various choreographers including Dianne McIntyre, Kevin Wynn and others. She was an artist in Residence in Kentucky for 3 years and received her MFA from Temple University.

John Prusak, Instructor, Film/Video
John Prusak is a filmmaker and educator. John has made hundreds of short documentary and narrative films over a long career, earning many awards and honors along the way. He currently teaches at Wayne State University and conducts many workshops throughout he state.

Kathy Vander, Instructor, Film/Video
Kathy Vander is a professional video producer who works for the auto industry. Her art form, however, is documentary film, and she has created several award-winning works on a variety of subjects in the arts and beyond.

Michelle Mountain, Instructor, Theatre
Michelle Mountain is a Resident Artist for The Purple Rose, where she has appeared in over a thousand performances and directed Hope for Corky and this spring's Growing Pretty.

Guy Sanville, Instructor, Theatre
Guy Sanville is the Artistic Director of the Purple Rose Theatre Company where he has directed over twenty-five productions.

Delena Ollila, Instructor, Theatre
Delena Ollila is a lyric coloratura soprano and currently on the voice faculty at the University of Michigan Flint. She is currently pursuing a M.A. in Communication Disorders in Speech and Language Pathology at the University of South Carolina.

Phillip Moss, Instructor, Theatre
Dr. Phillip W. Moss is the chair of the creative and performing arts department at University Liggett School. Moss has been an active arts education leader and teacher for over 25 years.

Caroline Gore, Instructor, Visual Arts
Caroline Gore is an artist with formal training in sculpture and metals/jewelry related processes. Gore is an Assistant Professor of Art at the Frostic School of Art at Western Michigan University.

Bill Davis, Instructor, Visual Arts
Bill Davis is an assistant professor of Photography and Intermedia at Western Michigan University. He is also the visual arts coordinator for the WMU Prague Summer Program.


Kevin Collins, Instructor, VSA
Kevin Collins is a well-respected percussionist both locally and throughout the country, who has played one form of percussion instrument or another since he was 6 years old.
